Danskin Peak is the highest point in the Danskin Mountains. A road leads to its summit and a large fire lookout. The road makes a great route for a mountain bike ascent. You can climb the peak from just about any direction, but the best approach is from Mountain Home. USGS Danskin Peak
Access and Route, Class 1
The access information in the book is accurate [(D)(1) on Pages 154-155]. In 2019, the road was in fair condition. A few spots were recently maintained. Nevertheless, a 4WD is recommended. Take Canyon Creek Road north out of Mountain Home. The road eventually crosses Canyon Creek and then runs west for a total of 14.1 miles where the road junctions with FS-167. Turn right onto FS-167 and follow it, climbing steeply, for 8.8 miles to a junction by a small reservoir. Turn north and follow the road for 4.4 miles to the Danskin Crest. Turn right and follow the road to the summit in another 3.3 steep miles.
