Red Mountain, a former fire lookout site, sits in the center of a large roadless area which includes two large basins filled with small lakes: Red Lakes Basin and Lost Lakes Basin. I have not visited this peak since 2008, which has been burned by forest fires in the meantime. Nevertheless, the peak and the Red Lakes Basin are still popular with peakbaggers and backpackers.
