These two summits are located southeast of Burgdorf Hot Springs and Warren Wagon Road/FH-21. Ruby Mountain is the highest point on a forested ridge flanked by Ruby Creek to the west and the Secesh River to the east. Peak 6980 is the northernmost ranked point on the ridge. USGS Loon Lake

Access

This area is accessed from Warren Wagon Road/FH-21 [(B)(2) on Page 135]. Google Maps will give you directions to the trailhead which is 29 miles from McCall.

Route, Class 2

The lower part of  is route crosses through Ruby Meadows, which is damp for much of the year. The upper portions of the route are heavily forested and/or recently burned. In short, there is no easy route description. Use John Platt’s trip report (linked below) and his GPS track as general guides. You will need advanced route-finding skills to make your way up these peaks.
